Before we begin

The best trips don't begin with a destination. They begin with intention.

Most people start planning by asking where they should go. It's a fine place to start — it just isn't the most important question. Before the hotel, the flights, or even the country, there's a better one:

  • Do you want to come home rested?
  • Inspired?
  • More connected to the people you're with?
  • Or simply given uninterrupted time together?

Those answers matter more than any destination ever will.

What's inside

Seven principles

Not a checklist — a set of questions to return to every time you plan a trip.

one

Start with the Memory

Before you choose the destination, choose the feeling. Ask what you want to remember — the destination becomes the setting, the memory is the reason you went.

Travel isn't a collection of places. It's a collection of moments.

two

Spend with Intention

Luxury isn't spending more, it's spending wisely. Not every part of a trip deserves the same investment — choose the experiences you'll actually remember.

Spend where you'll remember it. Save where you won't.

three

Choose Ease

A direct flight. One hotel instead of three. An extra night rather than another destination. Every decision that removes friction creates more space for joy.

Ease is one of life's greatest luxuries.

four

Protect Your Time

The temptation to see it all is real. But a slow breakfast that turns into a second coffee is rarely wasted time — it's usually the part you remember.

The best itineraries always have space to breathe.

five

The Best Friend Test

Would I send my best friend here? If the answer isn't an immediate yes, keep looking. There are too many incredible places in the world to settle for good enough.

If it isn't good enough for someone you love, it isn't good enough.

six

Be Where Your Feet Are

The greatest luxury isn't seeing more, it's noticing more. Put the phone down, order dessert, stay for one more cup of coffee. Experience the moment you're already in.

The greatest luxury is being fully present.

seven

Travel Together

Years from now you won't remember every museum or reservation. You'll remember who sat across the table, who watched the sunset with you, who reached for your hand in unfamiliar streets.

The greatest destinations are the people you experience them with.

And then

The ÉLEVÉ Reflection

A short guided exercise at the end of the guide, so your next trip is designed around your priorities rather than just a destination.

  • The memory I want most
  • The feeling I want to create
  • One thing I'll simplify
  • One experience worth investing in
  • One moment I'll leave unplanned

Thoughtful travel doesn't happen by chance. It happens by choice.

Who wrote this

The best trips aren't defined by how much you spend.

Hi, I'm Nicole — a luxury travel advisor who believes the best trips are defined by how intentionally you travel, not how much you spend. I'm also a wife and a mom, and I think the best journeys are the ones that leave you feeling more connected than when you arrived.

These are the principles I return to every time I plan a vacation, whether it's for a client or for my own family. My hope is that they help you travel with more confidence and more ease — and come home with memories that stay long after you've unpacked.
